Frequently asked questions about birth certificate translations

When do I need a certified translation for a birth certificate?

It takes more than just a free online translation tool to complete a certified translation (i.e. one that is officially recognised by public authorities, agencies, regional courts and the police). In fact, a sworn specialist translator with the relevant authorisation and who is authorised to put the right stamp on your translation is required. A certified translation is officially valid and appropriately stamped to confirm that the source text has been completely and properly translated.

Where can I have a birth certificate translated?

As birth certificates are official documents for which certified translation is usually required, you should contact a specialised translation agency. These agencies use trained and sworn translators who work on your official documents and certificates. These translators are authorised to translate official documents and verify the translation by way of certification. P.S.: We are actually specialists in certified translation.

How much does a certified translation of a birth certificate cost?

The price of a certified translation basically consists of the translation service, the verified quality of the translation and the language combination. Our translators are certified by the state and sworn in at court, which makes a certified translation so special. With us you get your translated birth certificate with certification at a price of 56.50 € for the entire document.

Which languages are available for the translation of my birth certificate?

At Beglaubigung24 you can order certified translations in 19 language combinations. One of the two languages, i.e. the source or target language, should be German.

Who translates and certifies birth certificates?

Just like other official documents, birth certificates are only translated by sworn translators. In our case, in Germany, they are authorised translators who have taken a general oath before a regional or higher regional court or an authority for domestic affairs. They are certified and have the appropriate authorisation and qualifications to translate and certify content in specific languages.

How do I set the number of pages?

A single page means one side of one sheet of paper – irrespective of the number of words on that page. The front and back sides of a double-sided document are considered two separate pages. All relevant pages in the original document are counted for the translation. The ‘number of pages’ comprises the total number of individual pages. Learn more here.

Will my data and information contained in the documents be kept confidential?

Of course, we handle all data we receive from you or from your documents with the utmost confidentiality - you can be sure of that! Because: In addition to certifications for translation services (ISO 17100) and quality management (ISO 9001), our service has an excellent information security management system according to ISO/IEC 27001.

  • There’s no doubt that a birth certificate is a very important document. For example, it is considered an official document by public authorities and registry offices. You may find that you are required to have a foreign birth certificate translated into German and certified in order for it to be recognised by the competent authority. And German birth certificates are likewise often only valid abroad when they have been professionally translated and officially certified in the respective language.

Depending on the country in question, there are different situations in which certified translations are required. As a general rule, you will need a certified translation of your birth certificate for: marriages, civil partnerships, name changes, naturalisation, emigration, deaths, applications for parental and child benefits, acknowledgement of paternity, custody arrangements, baptisms and even when buying property.

  • Our translations aren’t just official; they’re also triple-certified

Although many online tools can now produce translations too, a certified translation is something only a true expert can deliver. Here at Beglaubigung24, we work exclusively with authorised translators who are certified to produce official translations. In addition, we have triple ISO certification: for our translation services (ISO 17100:2015), our quality management (ISO-9001:2015) and our information security (ISO/IEC 27001:2013).

  • When do I need to have a birth certificate translated?

Hardly any other document is as much in demand for applications abroad as the birth certificate. There are numerous situations in which authorities or offices require a certified translation of the birth certificate. For example, when it comes to these matters:

    - Naturalization and emigration
    - Marriage and matrimony
    - Application for parental allowance and child benefit
    - deaths
    - change of name
    - Acknowledgment of paternity
    - Study abroad

  • What do I need to have my birth certificate translated?
