Frequently asked questions about contract translations

Why do I need a certified translation for a contract?

Certified translations of contracts are usually required for international contract negotiations or for recognition by an authority. A certified translation—with a stamp and signature—is necessary to ensure that the relevant points and clauses of the contract are translated correctly and are understandable to all parties involved. It is particularly important for legal contracts that they are handled by professional translators with legal expertise. Certification of the translation confirms its accuracy and quality and ensures international recognition.

Where can I get a contract translated?

Contracts are official documents. For a professional contract translation, you should therefore commission a specialized translation agency. Here, all data is treated confidentially and translated by sworn translators with certification. This way, you receive an official translation that is recognized by foreign authorities. And if you don't want to search for long: you've come to the right place for your contract translation.

How much does a certified contract translation cost?

The price for a certified translation is comprised of several components: the translation service itself, the language combination, the length of the contract, and the certification by sworn translators. The latter is what makes the translation so valuable, as it transforms it into an official document. With us, you can get your contract documents translated and certified starting from €65.90.

Into which languages can I have contracts translated?

At Beglaubigung24 you can order certified translations in 19 language combinations. One of the two languages, i.e. the source or target language, should be German.

Our language combinations are:

German - English

Who translates and certifies contracts?

Contracts are translated by sworn or legal translators to ensure international recognition. These translators are state-certified and have taken an oath before a regional court, higher regional court, or interior ministry. This qualifies them to produce and certify official translations into other languages. You can usually find such specialist translators at a translation agency – and right here with us.

How do I set the number of pages?

A single page means one side of one sheet of paper – irrespective of the number of words on that page. The front and back sides of a double-sided document are considered two separate pages. All relevant pages in the original document are counted for the translation. The ‘number of pages’ comprises the total number of individual pages. Learn more here.

Will my data and information contained in the documents be kept confidential?

Of course, we handle all data we receive from you or from your documents with the utmost confidentiality - you can be sure of that! Because: In addition to certifications for translation services (ISO 17100) and quality management (ISO 9001), our service has an excellent information security management system according to ISO/IEC 27001.

  • Contracts contain important details, confidential information, and sensitive data of individuals and/or companies. Therefore, if you ever need to have a contract translated, make sure the translation is done by professionals. Incorrectly translated clauses and errors in the fine print are not only annoying but can also have far-reaching legal consequences. For this reason, you should opt for a certified translation; it's the safest option.

It's impossible to give a general rule for when a contract translation (including certification) is necessary. The list of different types of contracts is long, and these are just a few examples: rental agreement, purchase agreement, lease agreement, loan agreement, franchise agreement, credit agreement, freelance contract, insurance contract, cooperation agreement, partnership agreement, license agreement, commission agreement, inheritance agreement, prenuptial agreement, employment contract, internship agreement. We offer high-quality contract translations for all of these (and more).

  • A good contract translation – that only comes with the right know-how.

A contract is also considered a legal document, and therefore a certified contract translation is often referred to as a legal translation. Sworn translators are authorized to translate contracts and verify their content with a certification. Our translators possess the necessary legal knowledge and are experts in various legal fields. Even with last-minute translations, you will receive your contract in the desired target language as a PDF via email within 3–4 business days, and the hard copy will arrive in your mailbox within 5–6 business days.

  • Recognized contract texts in numerous languages – with triple ISO certification

Of course, you can also translate your contract using an online tool and try your luck. But you should be aware of one thing: contractual partners and relevant authorities generally only accept certified documents – and this includes translations. Our translations are prepared by sworn translators, and the content is officially confirmed with a certification. In addition, our service is certified three times according to ISO standards: for our translation services (ISO 17100:2015), our quality management (ISO 9001:2015), and our information security (ISO/IEC 27001:2013).

  • Which contracts can I have translated?

You can have all types of contracts officially translated, for example:
    - Rental agreements
    - Purchase agreements
    - Lease agreements
    - Employment contracts
    - Insurance contracts
    - Insurance policies
    - Prenuptial agreements
    - Loan agreements
    - Loan agreements
    - Shareholder agreements
    - Supplier contracts
    - Cooperation agreements
    - Commission agreements
    - License agreements
    - General Terms and Conditions (GTC)

Do you have another contract that needs translating? We can do that! Upload the document at the top of this page and order your certified translation in just a few clicks.

  • When do I need a certified translation of a contract?

You usually need a contract translation when a contract is to be signed between international parties. This might be the case when a company enters into a contract with international business partners or when hiring employees from another country. But contracts also occasionally need to be translated in private matters, for example, if you want to buy a property abroad. Since it is always a legally binding agreement between the parties, it is important that all contracting parties understand the contract before signing. With a certified translation, everyone can be sure that the content is translated accurately and completely.

  • Can I translate a contract myself?

You can, of course, translate any contract yourself or using a translation tool, but be careful: very few contracting parties trust a self-made translation where they can't be sure that everything has been translated accurately. Therefore, you should always have a contract translated and certified. A sworn translator then creates a certified translation and verifies it with a signature and stamp. This way, all parties can be sure that the deal is being handled fairly and correctly.
